There are 302+ birds in this distinct Rainy River Area for bird watching, and many of them are right in our yard, on our property or only across the Bay from us. Hummingbirds and Orioles are always entertaining in the summer. Chickadees are always popular. Native PictographsRent a boat or purchase a lake tour to visit the ancient pictographs.
5,000 year-old rock pictographs made of berry juice and sap can be viewed by boat on various islands on Lake of the Woods. Visitors are reminded that these paintings are sacred and must be respected. Do not physically touch the paintings and do not pull the boat directly onto a carving. An offering may be left – tobacco is preferred.
There is one of the last remaining Lighthouses - approx 15 minutes away on Lighthouse Road off HWY 621. Ask us to see about making arrangements to view the Lighthouse.
There is a nearby "Historic One-Room Schoolhouse" to tour, on Kreger Road & HWY 600 in Harris Hill. Ask us to see about making arrangements to view the Schoolhouse.

The Rainy River Walleye Tournament is held on the Rainy River, only 8 miles from here by water.
This event is held every September and is a big draw for fishermen and spectators too.
Morson POW WOWs - First Nations People
Cultural Festivities held at Big Grassy First Nation and Big Island First Nation.

Assabaska Ojibway Heritage Park (1-807-488-1046) is only 15 minutes away off HWY 621, where you can enjoy sand beaches and more play structures for the children, picnic areas with shelters, hiking trails (several self-guiding trails are being developed), horseshoe pits, interpretive programs including Demonstration Pow Wows , Bannock Bakes, Rock Painting, Guided Hikes, Traditional Games, Tours of the Traditional Village, Native Craft Workshops.
In Rainy River, only 20 minutes away, you can enjoy restaurants as well as shopping and attractions such as the Train Museum in Rainy River. There is also a liquor commission and a hotel on Hwy 11.
