Ice Fishing and Snowmobiling are popular sports during the winter months. The ice often reaches 4 feet deep or more, making those areas on our frozen Lake of the Woods a great place for winter sport activities and family fun.

Harris Hill Resort is right next to a Main snowmobile trail - groomed trails, that lead from USA to Nestor Falls, to Manitoba and back to the USA or Ontario again.  We are also nearby to groomed "community" trails that lead into the main trails as well as nerighbouring towns.

Also enjoy snowmobiling on the lake and the islands.  One can also enjoy climbing rock outcroppings plus sight-seeing. With a variety of fish species within 1 - 4 miles from our year round Resort, it is an opportune area for winter ice fishing enthusiasts. These areas are quite secluded and have low pressure fishing. You won't find miles and miles of ice huts, more like 8 -10, and 3 of them belong to our Resort for renting out to our ice fishing customers, along with a comfortable house keeping cottage to return to in the evening.

	Ice Fishing for Walleye landed this nice 29" Master Angler: which are often caught on Lake of the Woods		Master Angler Perch at 13.75": Lured in ice fishing on Lake of the Woods There are always alot of Perch nibbling on your bait, and as a result, there are also alot of large Perch caught here on Lake of the Woods. Being a member of the Walleye family also, they are plentiful and fun to catch.
	Winter ice fishing produces many large fish like this 18" Sauger, which is HUGE for a Sauger. Related to the Walleye family, Saugers are fun to fish for too, all winter long.		36" Northern Pike, another Master Angler harvested during winter ice fishing, and ice fishing in comfortable heated ice huts

At most times you can readily catch your limits of Walleye and Sauger, while ice fishing comfortably in your heated ice huts, (ice shanties) or ice shacks as we Canadians call them.  Many Northern Pike are also caught on Lake of the Woods during the winter fishing season.

Black Crappie Fishing is always fun and exciting: Driving out on the ice and fishing in the warm sun makes it a great advenrture and a memorable day of fishing.

We can also snowmobile or trailer out to another area for Black Crappie, and to another area for Trout. These are scenic rides to popular areas where these species of freshwater fish are readily found.

Although we generally ice fish in warm comfortable heated ice huts, on a warm sunny day it is often preferable to actually sit outside and enjoy the warmth of the sun and take in the fresh air and the view of the lake and the Bald Eagles looking for lunch.

With 4 feet of ice it is safe enough to drive your vehicles right out on the ice to your favorite ice fishing spot.

During a "good" winter, if there is not too much snow and wind, we can maintain an ice road so that you can drive your trucks right to to the nearby fishing spots. Otherwise you have access to our fishing shacks and private fishing spots with your Snowmobile or your ATV depending on the snow conditions.

Our 10 ' X 16 ' Ice Huts are of Wood & Tin construction with 14 ice fishing holes, 16' windows on both sides, chairs/seats and a wall mounted LP propane heater in them.

With 14 ice fishing holes you can have Seven fishermen with two holes each, or up to as many people as you want ice fishing in this heated ice fishing shack.

Ice Fishing on Lake of the Woods is a popular sport especially teamed with snowmobiling and a warm cabin to return to 

For Winter Ice Fishing you are allowed two poles each, unlike fishing in summer you may only have one rod & reel.

You can have as many people in our ice huts as you are comfortable with..

Our 6 ' X 10 ' Ice Shacks are of Wood and Tin construction with 4 ice fishing holes, chairs/seats, windows and a wall mounted LP propane heater in them.

Bait available; Tackle available; Fishing Licenses available; Massage Therapy available. 

5 of our 6 housekeeping cabins are not completely winterized. They are available for rent and are warm accommodations with electric heat, but do not have running water during the winter months. Necessary water will be brought in from our main lodge. You may choose to bring your bottled drinking water, as many do anyway. The TV Satellites are not hooked up during the winter months in these 5 cabins. An "outhouse" is available, or you may have a "porta-pot".

American Plan Meals or selected meals can also be arranged and served at our main lodge for your convenience.

Our one fully winterized cabin (cabin #5 will sleep up to 7 people) can be rented from us also. It is fully house keeping capable, has electric heat as well as LP propane heat, Satellite TV, running water, toilet, shower, BBQ, Wireless Internet.

View the many species of birds in our area both by the lodge and out on the lake like the Bald Eagles. Certain species of animals can be seen during the winter months, like the Otters on the Lake, Whitetail Deer that come in the yard, and Moose on the Islands, Fishers etc.
