Crappie fishing on Lake of the Woods, ZONE 5, is open all year round, and is always exciting. These pan fish provide you with lots of action & hours of fishing pleasure; especially fun to catch ice fishing!

Lake of the Woods Crappie fishing is fun and yields alot of crappies on a daily basis, some are 13" or larger Black Crappies.

With a full limit licence you are allowed 15 a day and 15 in possession. With a Conservation Licence you are allowed 10 a day and 10 in Possession.

In Early Spring to Summer, Crappies are found on weedy shorelines & in weedy bays with muddy bottoms. To catch Crappies, a small jig tipped with a minnow works the best. You need to drop the jig down to the bottom into the weeds, then pull up and pop it over the weeds and let it sink to the bottom again. Just keep repeating this technique. In early morning and in evening it works the best.

In the fall, Crappie move into deep bays in about 40 feet of water & we use the same bait tipped with minnow. The technique then to catch Crappies is to vertically jig off the bottom.

In the winter, for ice fishing, Crappie are readily caught in "the hot spots" on Lake of the Woods that are known to produce hours of fishing fun & entertainment. We can take you out there with heated portable ice huts to protect you from the weather.

Our "American Plan" 7 Day Fishing Vacation at Harris Hill Resort

For your 7 night stay, your arrival time for your cabin is 2 PM on the first day, and departure is 9 AM on your last day.
This includes
your fully equipped lakeview cabin, complete with Satellite TV, fire pits, BBQ's etc.

You will have a Deluxe 18’ boat with a 40-50 hp 4-stroke motor, with depth finder/ fish locator, padded swivel seats, live wells, casting decks, life jackets/PDF's, safety equipment, landing net, docking etc.
You will have a tour of the property, and also a tour of Lake of the Woods up to Snake Island
You will be provided with a map of the area marked with good areas to fish
You will find that we have great hospitality and service
You will have quality meals with generous portions (one meal is a bag lunch).
Great coffee in the morning and evening too!
You may arrange to have an experienced fishing guide and/or a shore lunch also.
A picture may be taken for you that you can take back with you, or a picture mailed to you after professional developing.

We carry fishing licenses, live bait as well as some tackle. Experienced guides and shorelunches are available by request.


Our "House Keeping Plan" 7 day Fishing Vacation at Harris Hill Resort

If you would like to add a guide to one of our non-guided fishing vacation packages ...
Guide and Guide Boat by the day (up to 7 hours fishing) is $300.00 plus gasoline, bait, license etc.
Shore lunch would be $15 extra each

Guide for up to 7 hours $175.00 plus bait, license etc. in one of our 18' boats you have already rented.
NOTE: For your safety and comfort, we will only send a guide out using our 19.5' boat (not an 18') if there is a strong chance of inclement weather or windy conditions.
